Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) is a diagnostic procedure used to assess lung function and diagnose respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis. PFT measures several parameters, including lung capacity, airflow, and gas exchange, to evaluate how well the lungs are functioning.

During the test, patients breathe into a spirometer, which measures the volume and flow of air as they inhale and exhale. Additional tests, such as lung volume measurements or diffusion capacity tests, may also be performed to provide further information about lung function.

Pulmonary function testing is safe, non-invasive, and usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. It can help healthcare providers diagnose respiratory conditions, assess disease severity, monitor disease progression, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.

Our pulmonary specialists are experienced in performing pulmonary function testing and interpreting the results to provide accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans for patients with respiratory conditions.
