Taking control of food allergies with expert treatment
Our approach to food allergy treatment

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
Before treatment begins, we conduct a thorough evaluation, which may include:
- • Skin prick tests
- • IgE blood testing
- • Oral food challenges (done safely under supervision)
Knowing exactly what you’re allergic to allows us to design the most effective treatment and prevention plan.

Allergen avoidance plans
Once your triggers are confirmed, we help you:
- • Read food labels more effectively
- • Avoid cross-contamination
- • Plan safe meals at home and while dining out
- • Educate family members, schools, and caregivers
Our goal is to help you or your child stay protected without feeling restricted.

Emergency preparedness (EpiPen Training & Anaphylaxis Action Plans)
If you’re at risk for anaphylaxis, we’ll make sure you:
- • Know how and when to use epinephrine auto-injectors (like EpiPen or Auvi-Q)
- • Carry emergency medication at all times
- • Have a written food allergy action plan for home, school, or work
We also offer training sessions for parents, teachers, and caregivers in Merced and Fresno.

Long-term monitoring and follow-ups
Food allergies can evolve over time, especially in children. We provide regular follow-ups to:
- • Re-evaluate allergies as your immune system changes
- • Discuss new treatment
- • Adjust avoidance strategies based on lifestyle changes
Why food allergies are increasing in Central California
While avoidance remains a key part of treatment, modern medicine offers promising advances. Depending on the type and severity of your allergy, we may also recommend:
Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) – When appropriate
OIT involves gradually increasing exposure to the allergen under close supervision, with the goal of desensitizing the immune system. This is especially effective for:
- • Peanut allergies
- • Milk and egg allergies in children
Although not suitable for everyone, OIT can be life-changing when recommended by a food allergy specialist.
Biologic Medications
For patients with multiple allergies or concurrent conditions like asthma or eczema, newer treatments like biologics (e.g., omalizumab/Xolair) may help regulate the body’s allergic response.
We’re proud to offer the latest FDA-approved food allergy treatments in Fresno and Merced.
